The Salvation Army Summer Day Camp serves 55 children ages 6 - 12.  The ten-week program is designed to provide fun, affordable, well-supervised summer care in a stimulating learning environment.

For families to qualify, parents/guardians must be employed and/or enrolled in formal education equivalent to at least part-time and meet income guidelines.  Reduced rates are available that consider household size, income and other factors.

Program Support & Evaluation

Weekly fees do not fully cover the cost to provide a comprehensive camp program.  Additional support is needed to fund the quality of care and scope of activities and programming offered.  The Salvation Army summer day camp program is funded through the United Way of East Central Iowa and other organizations like the Crescent Janko Masonic Foundation.  The Salvation Army strives to make responsible use of all donor contributions and to provide a program that has measurable positive impact on children.

Each week of camp has a different theme.  The themes incorporate learning activities, guest speakers, field trips/tours and special projects.
