Housing Support

Financial Support:   The Salvation Army provides rent and utility assistance in emergency situations. The goal is to avoid eviction or service disconnection and to assist families in maintaining housing during times of crisis and financial need.

Need could arise from circumstances related to job loss, childcare issues, medical problems, transportation barriers, fire or natural disaster for example. The Army makes payment directly to the landlord or utility company.

Thank you to the Alliant Energy Foundation for helping sponsor our Rental Assistance program!

Family Support & Advocacy:  Wherever possilbe, The Salvation Army works with households to approach their situations and challenges with longer-term solutions that promote stability.  This involves developing more in-depth relationships with families and providing follow-up contact and support to overcome barriers and set and achieve attainable goals.  Assessing needs and connecting families with supportive services and supplmental resources is key.  This could include helping a family qualify for WIC or other food support or childcare assistance; connect with job training, education or employment services; or identify mental health and substance abuse issues and treatment options.
